Hard Anodizing at West-Tech

West-Tech Finishing Inc. provides Type III hard anodizing for aluminum components that require exceptional wear resistance, corrosion protection, and durability in demanding service environments. Hardcoat anodizing produces a thicker, harder anodic layer than conventional Type II, making it well suited for hydraulic components, bearing surfaces, pistons, valve bodies, aerospace hardware, defence components, and other parts exposed to repeated wear or harsh operating conditions.

We offer hard clear and hard black finishes with coating thicknesses from 0.001" to 0.003". Our hard anodizing line includes two dedicated tanks, two 3500-amp rectifiers, more than 200 tons of process cooling, and computerized processing controls designed to maintain consistent results across prototypes, repeat orders, and high-volume production. Processing is available to MIL-A-8625 Type III, Class 1 and Class 2 requirements, backed by West-Tech's Nadcap accreditation and AS9100 Rev D and ISO 9001:2015 registered quality systems.

With Type III anodizing, dimensional control is critical. West-Tech uses custom masking and plugging to protect bores, threads, precision surfaces, and other critical features from unwanted coating buildup. Combined with controlled processing and coating thickness requirements, this helps maintain critical dimensions, achieve the required coating performance, and reduce the risk of rework.

Our anodizing tanks measure 11.5 ft × 5.4 ft × 2.5 ft, giving West-Tech the capacity to handle larger components and production quantities while maintaining tight process control. Standard lead time is typically 4 to 5 business days, with expedited service available when production schedules demand faster turnaround.
